Municipal Advocacy Committee (MAC)

MANDATE:

The Municipal Advocacy Committee (MAC) will provide leadership in addressing municipal issues of importance to the Greater Sudbury business community. It will attempt to identify, communicate, and remove barriers to doing business and enhance the overall economic prosperity of the city. The committee will pay particular attention to:

•  local COVID-19 economic recovery;
•  City’s 2022 budget;
•  municipal red tape & bylaws;
•  major projects; and
•  municipal elections 2022

Provincial Advocacy Committee (PAC)

MANDATE:

The Provincial Advocacy Committee (PAC) will provide leadership in addressing provincial (and federal) issues of importance to the Greater Sudbury business community. It will attempt to identify, communicate, and remove barriers to doing business in the province and enhance the overall economic prosperity of Greater Sudbury. The committee will pay particular attention to:

  • COVID-19 economic recovery;
  • Provincial Election 2022 (on or before June 2nd, 2022);
  • Monitor the Province’s apprenticeship reform plans;
  • Work in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce

Workforce Task Force

MANDATE:

The Workforce Task Force (WTF) will provide leadership in addressing issues pertaining to the workforce in Greater Sudbury. It will pay particular attention to:

•  Attraction and retention of talent;
•  Rollout and marketing of the Chamber Perks App;
•  2nd Annual Virtual Job Fair; and
•  MAGNET Today Job Portal.

  • the cost of doing business;
  • CCC’s independent tax review; and
  • engagement with the federal government.

The Ring of Fire Task Force will provide leadership in advancing the development of the Ring of Fire. It will continue to urge the provincial government to prioritize the development of the Ring of Fire and ensure the voice of Greater Sudbury is heard in the process.

  • the retention of our workforce; and

  • the Kingsway Entertainment District and the Junction;
  • infrastructure investments;
  • Tom Davies Square;
  • skilled work force; and
  • municipal water systems.

The Immigration Task Force (ITF) will seek to advise the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce in advocating for policies and programs that will help address the business community’s skilled workforce shortage through skilled immigration to the community.

MANDATE: The Municipal Issues Committee will provide leadership in addressing municipal issues of importance to the Greater Sudbury business community. It will attempt to identify, communicate and remove barriers to doing business and enhance the overall economic prosperity of the city. It will monitor the development of comprehensive master plans and participate if appropriate and feasible. The committee will pay particular attention to: red tape and by-laws; progress on the major projects; and downtown development.
