GREATER SUDBURY, July 5, 2023 – The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce welcomed its new board of directors and Chair of the Board on July 4.

The swearing-in ceremony for the chamber’s board of directors and its new Chair of the Board was held last evening at Verdicchio Ristorante, a local chamber member restaurant, and was officiated by Ontario Court Justice Kathleen Erin Cullin.

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is governed by a 16-member volunteer board of directors.  Each member of the board volunteers their expertise, time, and knowledge, reflecting a broad cross-section of the local business community.  The board consists of elected directors, serving two-year terms, and appointed directors, serving one-year terms.  A term runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.

“The chamber’s Board of Directors represents community leaders across a wide range of economic sectors in our city,” said Debbi Nicholson, President & CEO, Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce. “We are very pleased to welcome our new Board, and look forward to their contributions in supporting the success of the Greater Sudbury business community.”

The directors and Chair of the Board commenced their term on July 5.  Geoffrey Hatton, owner of Spectrum Telecom Inc, was elected at the new Chair of the Board, taking over the reins from Anthony Davis who now moves into the Past Chair role.

For Hatton, becoming Chair of the Board for the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is an exciting opportunity to help local businesses flourish and elicit positive change.

“I am excited to lead such a passionate group of directors this year,” Hatton said. “We have accomplished so much under our outgoing Chair, Anthony Davis, and I want to thank him for his incredible leadership. I am looking forward to building on the great advocacy work we have done at the chamber throughout some particularly challenging times for businesses.”
