About the Chamber:

Established in 1895 as the Sudbury Board of Trade, Frank Cochrane, owner of the Cochrane Dunlop Hardware Store, served as the organization’s first president.  In 1942, board members voted to rename the organization the Sudbury and District Chamber of Commerce.  In 1999, the name was again changed, adding the word “Greater” to become the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.  While the name has changed over the past 128 years, the concept has remained the same:  To promote the civic, commercial, industrial, agriculture and tourism interests of the area.  Today, the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce has more than 700 business members representing the many industries that make up this city’s economy.
