The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce hosted Ring of Fire Metals CEO, Steve Flewelling, on January 26, 2023.

Flewelling was the guest speaker at the chamber’s President’s Series Luncheon, held at Bryston’s on the Park in Copper Cliff.

In March 2022, Australian-based Wyloo Metals purchased Noront Resources’ mineral assets in the Ring of Fire in a $616.9-million deal. Now called Ring of Fire Metals, the company owns the rights to the high-grade Eagle’s Nest deposit, which contains nickel, copper, platinum and palladium deposits.

“The Ring of Fire has been referred to as a game changer, and a promising mining opportunity for Canada as a whole,” said Anthony Davis, Chair of the Board of Directors, Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce. “As the Ring of Fire is of great interest to many of our members, we are excited to be able to bring Stephen Flewelling to Sudbury to shed some insight on Ring of Fire Metal’s plans for the Eagle’s Nest project. The critical minerals found within the Ring of Fire will help create economic prosperity, and as the world continues to develop more sophisticated technology, the need for these critical minerals will only escalate.”

Flewelling discussed environmental assessments, permitting, and the mining company’s plans within the Ring of Fire, among other topics.
