(August 2017) The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, released a report, titled Building Better: Setting the 2017 Ontario Infrastructure Plan up for Success, which indicated that Ontario is facing a $19 billion infrastructure gap and Greater Sudbury is facing a $1.4 billion infrastructure shortfall.

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is calling on the government to adopt its recommendations outlined in the report. The report recommends that the province bring fresh accountability methods around how infrastructure dollars are spent to ensure transparency, confront challenges of the 21st century by ensuring planning considers how we can build infrastructure that is resilient enough to withstand Ontario’s harsh climate, and ensure that that the LTIP is strategic, robust, and based on long-term thinking.
