About Mayor Brian Bigger:
Before being sworn in as Mayor for the City of Greater Sudbury in December of 2014, he served as the City’s first Auditor General.

Under Brian’s leadership, the Auditor General’s Office of Greater Sudbury was awarded the distinction of international recognition from the Association of Local Government Auditors for an audit related to Sudbury’s Road Construction projects.

Prior to serving in that role, he also held a senior executive role at Sears Canada Inc. and was Senior Asset Manager with the Regional Municipality of Halton. A graduate of St. Charles College, Brian earned a diploma in Marketing from Cambrian College and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

An athlete in his youth, Brian won a gold medal in the 1974 Ontario Summer Games for Sudbury as a member of the Sudbury Cycling Club. In recent years, he ran two full marathons and numerous half marathons.

Brian Bigger is no stranger to arts and culture. In his spare time he enjoys painting in water colour and listening to music. Brian Bigger was born in Sudbury. Lori Bigger, his wife of 37 years, is also Sudbury born. The couple enjoys all the facets of living in Sudbury. They have two children and are proud grandparents of three little boys.
