Policy Priorities
Through our Advocacy Committee and two supporting task forces, the Chamber advocates on behalf of our members and helps ensure their voices are heard by decision-makers at all levels of government.
Made up of Board directors and Chamber members, these groups play an important role in identifying and addressing issues affecting our local business community, influencing decisions and shaping the direction of our ongoing advocacy efforts.
Provincial and Federal Policy Resolutions
While much of the Chamber's advocacy work focuses on municipal issues, we also develop policy resolutions that address challenges and opportunities of provincial or national significance. These resolutions are submitted to either the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) or Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) for consideration.
At their respective annual general meetings, resolutions are debated by members from across the province or country. If adopted by the membership, they become official policy of the OCC or CCC and help guide advocacy efforts with senior levels of government. Approved resolutions remain active for three years.
