Advocating for Our Members
Through our advocacy committee and member-driven task forces, the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce helps ensure our members’ voices are heard by decision-makers at all levels of government.
Advocacy Committee
The Chamber’s Advocacy Committee unites business leaders to address municipal, provincial and federal policy issues. Its role is to identify barriers and champion solutions to drive economic growth across Greater Sudbury.
Task Forces

Focused on how these challenges affect businesses and advocating for actionable solutions.
Municipal Financial Accountability

Policy Resolutions
Our policy resolutions are based on issues of provincial or national importance and are submitted to the Ontario Chamber of Commerce or Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGMs, respectively. These resolutions are debated and, if approved by the delegates at those conventions, they become official policy of the Ontario or Canadian Chamber, who then lobby for them with senior levels of government.
Current OCC Policy Resolutions:
- Addressing Challenges of Ontario’s Largest Economic Sector: Small Business
- Extend Exemptions for the Non-Resident Speculation Tax
- Ignite the Development of the Ring of Fire
CCC Policy Resolutions:
- Make the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Permanent — this has now been implemented as the Rural Community Immigration Pilot under federal policy
- Critical Minerals – Critical for Everything from Batteries to National Security – approved and now part of CCC’s policy resolution
