McNeil at AGM

October 19, 2026

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce marked its 131st Annual General Meeting on October 19 at Science North's Vale Cavern, featuring a keynote address by David McNeil, President and CEO of Health Sciences North.
The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on the Chamber's accomplishments during the 2025/2026 fiscal year, including continued advocacy on business priorities, opportunities for member learning and engagement, and growth in Chamber membership.
"We welcomed 162 new members while continuing to advocate for the priorities of local businesses, support opportunities for learning and growth, and bring our business community together through events and engagement," said Joanne LeBreton, Chair of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce. "The Chamber's work is guided by the voices of our members, and we remain committed to helping businesses succeed while strengthening Greater Sudbury's economy."
During his keynote address, McNeil highlighted the critical role health care plays in supporting economic growth across northern Ontario. He discussed Health Sciences North's role as a regional health-care provider, northern Ontario’s largest employer and a significant economic driver, generating an estimated $1.4 billion in annual economic activity. He also emphasized the importance of continued investment in health-care infrastructure to support future population and economic growth.
The event also included the presentation of a Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Membership to Andy McClellan. A Chamber member since 1999 and owner of Handy Andy Small Renos and Repairs, McClellan has devoted decades to supporting local organizations, festivals and community initiatives. From volunteering behind the scenes at many of Greater Sudbury's signature events to contributing his time and skills to countless projects, his commitment to service has made a lasting impact on our city and the people who call it home.
The Chamber extends sincere thanks to Desjardins for its generous support as title sponsor of the 2026 AGM.
