On August 17, 2018, we launched our 2018 municipal election platform, entitled Supporting Growth Through Economic Development. We are calling on candidates for Mayor and Council to adopt this platform. We are confident that if the incoming Mayor and Council commit to this platform, they will be supporting the city’s fiscal well-being, efficiency in municipal services and operations, quality of life, and economic prosperity.
The platform identifies five key areas of opportunity and 18 actions that will help ensure Greater Sudbury’s economic prosperity. By releasing the platform early in the campaign period, we will shape the discussion in the upcoming election and help voters make informed decisions. We strongly encourage all voters to consider the platform when they head to the polls in October.
The five areas of opportunity identified in Supporting Growth Through Economic Development are:
- The Kingsway Entertainment District and the Junction;
- Planning our Infrastructure Investments;
- Supporting Business at Tom Davies Square;
- Building a Skilled Workforce; and
- Pro-actively Managing our Water Systems.
