(Greater Sudbury, July 18, 2017) The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, is promoting mental health in the workplace through the release of a new toolkit entitled Working Towards Mental Wellness: A Toolkit for Employers.

The toolkit seeks to illuminate the distinctive character of mental wellness in the workplace, outline the case for action, and provide resources for starting this conversation in workplaces across Greater Sudbury.

“Mental health conditions in the workplace are receiving increasing recognition, but there is still more work to be done,” said Michael Macnamara, Chair, Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce. “Too often mental health issues are misjudged or disregarded instead of being recognized and managed. Our hope is that this toolkit will help start a real conversation about mental health so we can change things for the better.”

Working Towards Mental Wellness is one of many resources available to employers at occ.ca/mentalhealth. Other resources include a guide to relevant legislation, tools to evaluate a workplace, and information about various mental health experts and consultants.
