Reporting to the grounds crew supervisor duties will include but are not limited to:
– safe operation and maintenance of lawn care equipment including mowers and trimmers
– adhering to company health and safety policy
– flower bed maintenance
– tree and shrub maintenance
– snow removal

Lifeguard/Instructor

YMCA of Northeastern Ontario

We are currently looking for a Lifeguard/Instructor to join our team of committed professionals. This part-time position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Durham Street location in Sudbury. Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Aquatics, the Lifeguard/Instructor performs lifeguard duties in accordance with the National Lifesaving Society (NLS) standards as well as responsible delivering quality, values-based programming. This job is also responsible for ensuring the safety of members and participants while in the pool area.

START DATE: As soon as possible
LOCATION: Sudbury
RATE OF PAY: $16.00- $25.00 per hour
HOURS: Variable

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
National Lifeguard Certification (NLS) in good standing
YMCA Swim Instructor Certificate or equivalent
Basic understanding of pool operation
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Physically fit
Bilingualism in both official languages considered an asset
Current and Satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the safety of patrons at all times
Respond to first aid situations and emergencies promptly and competently
Ensure that first aid and rescue equipment is in safe working condition
Respond to member inquiries regarding aquatic programs
Teach, guard and coach a variety of aquatic programs
Complete pool logs
Complete all janitorial daily tasks as assigned and report any deficiencies to the Supervisor of Aquatics
Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Coordinator, Housing Case Management, the Housing Case Manager:
• Provides housing supports to individuals living with mental health and/or substance use concerns to reduce the risk of homelessness, crisis or hospitalization and improve well-being.
• Working within the framework of a client directed rehabilitation model, staff provide assistance to individuals in:
o obtaining housing
o enhancing instrumental activities of daily living skills
o developing wellness strategies and maintaining their living environment.
• Housing Case Managers can provide support in area-specific streams such as the justice system, homelessness sector and/or transitions from hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of a 2 year Diploma or Degree in a health or social services discipline.
• Minimum one year experience in related position
• Reliable vehicle and driver’s License required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
• Fluency in English is essential. Advanced conversational French is essential for 40% of these positions. Priority will be given to candidates who are bilingual in French and English as per our French Language Service Plan.
• Professional Designation/Certification (one of the following are required):
1. Registration, in good standing, with a regulating professional body (e.g. OCSWSSW); or
2. Certification, in good standing, with a professional certifying organization* within health or social service fields (e.g. CPRRP from PSR Canada); or
3. Working towards registration or certification in one of the above within 6 months of hire

Bachelor – Hourly, Step 2: $25.74 – Step 5: $30.28

• Education (one of the following is required)
i. Completion of a 2 year diploma or degree in a human services area; or
ii. Student currently working towards 2 year diploma or degree with minimum of 1 year related experience; or
iii. Combination of any post-secondary education and 3+ years of related experience.
