Structural Fitter

Important to have a steady hand and a great attention to detail. Must also have a strong knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

• Ability to interpret drawings, work orders, fabrication processes, structural steel ,materials, and other documentation associated with production
• Strong mathematical capability and layout skills

Under direction, the estimator is responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation received for tender bids, e-commerce, customer inquiries, etc. and to prepare estimates for preparation time, cost, and labour estimates for products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methods, techniques, or processes. Reviews data to determine material and labour requirements and prepares itemized material lists.

• Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations with clients, vendors, contractors and subcontractors.

Position Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager- Operations and Technology, the Underground Centre Coordinator will be responsible for working with the NORCAT Underground Centre team to help support clientele that are utilizing the Centre to develop, test, and/or demonstrate emerging technologies that are poised to transform the global mining industry. The appropriate candidate will work well independently and have excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with and support tech clients and NORCAT Underground Centre residents to assess their needs, to define / schedule potential project opportunities, and to support the implementation of all projects.
Assist with writing, reviewing, and managing client contracts (including project costing, scheduling, lease agreements, and billing structures) and government proposals, agreements, and reports.
Provide support, answer questions / emails / phone calls, make connections to other community stakeholders and innovation partners in Canada and beyond, and assist with conducting site tours / presentations for client prospects, partners, and key stakeholders engaged with NORCAT.
Act as a front-line representative demonstrating an “above and beyond” level of customer service for all clients, partners, and visitors.
Represent NORCAT through participation in conferences, workshops, and other relevant events associated with the future of mining technology and innovation as needed.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities including modifying contractual templates / agreements and policies as needed.
Provide assistance and support as required to coordinate the assignment and scheduling of trained mine support resources for technology testing projects.
